Turin has been marketing itself as an accessible tourist city to a diverse audience interested in culture and cultural, artistic and architectural heritage, and very sensitive to the attractions of the urban landscape with its squares, arcades, green areas and art.

In this scenario, Fondazione CRT is engaged in a project for granting touristic accessibility to the cultural heritage of the city, in cooperation with qualified partners such as the l’Istituto Italiano per il Turismo per Tutti (IsITT), the Consulta per le Persone in Difficoltà Onlus di Torino (CPD)  and the ATL Turismo Torino e Provincia.

Turin Tour for All (ToTo) is designed to merge and enhance tourism and accessibility, two subjects very relevant to the city of Turin, which has been increasingly active in these fields over the last decade.

Through an intuitive and functional digital App, ToTo offers its users an accessible touristic itinerary in the historic center of the city

ToTo was born as a part of the projects promoted by the European Foundation Center, specifically by the League of Historical & Accessible Cities, which involves 11 foundations in 5 countries across Europe in order to improve the accessibility of the historic centers of European cities combining tourism sustainable and accessible for all development and the protection of cultural heritage.

The main activities of the League are the development of pilot projects serving as inspiration for other Foundations, local authorities and other institutions interested in the collection and exchange of best practices that combine accessibility and tourism in orfer to disseminate knowledge and expertise on the subject.

As part of the activities of the League, Torino Tour for All (Toto) is the pilot project on the city of Turin promoted by Fondazione CRT.

The other member of the League that are engaged in projects developing accessible tourism are: Avila (Spain), Lucca (Italy), Mulhouse (France), Sozopol (Bulgaria), Viborg (Denmark).

For the implementation of its projects, each Foundation collaborates with institutions, organizations, local associations of the six historic towns.

In 2014, the International Design for All Award honors the League of Historical & Accessible Cities as one of the five Best Practices for excellence in terms of impact and because it opens the way for better implementation of design for all methodologies.
